Misano circuit name to be associated with Simoncelli

The board of directors of Santamonica Spa has unanimously accepted a proposal to associate the name of the Misano circuit with Marco Simoncelli. “We owe it to the memory of Sic,” said Lucas Colaiacovo, Vice President of the circuit. “We owe it to his family, to the hundreds of thousands of fans who admired his courage and humanity, all of the individuals in the sporting world and media who support this spontaneous and moving proposal. Casey Stoner claims third win in Catalunya

Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner pulled away from championship leader Jorge Lorenzo to win the Catalunya Grand Prix on Sunday. The Australian rider rocketed to his third win to the season. Stoner took the lead from Jorge Lorenzo on lap two and and pulled away. Lorenzo got a good start and was first into turn one, but he could not hold off Stoner. American Ben Spies came third ahead of Dovizioso and Rossi. Read the full article »

Suomy Capirossi Replica helmet revealed

Presented for the first time by Loris Capirossi during the Pramac Ducati team conference in Genoa, Suomy Excel Capirossi Replica will be available in stores starting in the next few days. The graphics remained similar to the previous version, much appreciated by users, with stylized and colorful running flowers around the base of the helmet, the number 65 on the left side and three stars on the right side with the colors of the Italian flag, Monaco and European Union flags. The colors are changing on a dark background, the yellow blends well with the greens, the glitter and colored streamers that run in a circle. Read the full article »

Video: 1966 Honda RC166 crazy engine sound

Winner of 10 out of 10 races in the 1966 World Championship series, the RC166 captured the Manufacturers' and Riders' Championships in the 250cc class for two consecutive years. In short, this is the 1966 RC166. This bike is the most glamorous racing bike ever built. 250 cc isn't the type of engine capacity that gets many riders excited but when you start listing some of the RC166's specs such as its six cylinder engine, 6 independent carbs, 62-64hp and 7 speed gearbox that is capable of 18,000 RPM, things get a little more interesting. Video: Casey Stoner on the 2012 MotoGP Honda prototype

Casey Stoner tested the 2012 Repsol Honda prototype in Jerez yesterday. “Everything has gone very well, very positive. It’s just nice to ride the 1000cc again, to feel the engine and the power,” said Stoner. “I had a lot of fun, I enjoyed the first day because everything we’ve tried seems to be working, so no complaints. The biggest disappointment is that Dani is not going be here to test as he is important to the development of this bike. Stoner cruises to MotoGP win in Le Mans, Rossi takes 3rd

Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner secured victory for the first time in his career at the Le Mans circuit in Sunday’s Monster Energy Grand Prix de France. It was a close battle until the very end between two Italians for second place but it was the second Repsol Honda of Andrea Dovizioso who clinched the 20 points, ahead of Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) who achieved his first rostrum riding the Desmosedici. Stoner took his 25th premier class career win after a dominant ride to pull away at the front and win by a margin of over 14 seconds. Read the full article »

Yamaha MotoGP truck kills biker

One of Yamaha Tech3 MotoGP team’s trucks was involved in an accident that has killed a motorcyclist. The 54-year old rider died at the La Ciotat toll booth on the A50 highway in France. The motorcyclist stopped behind a big truck waiting in the queue to pay the toll. The driver of the semi-trailer for some reason backed up at the toll booth and hit the biker, trapping him under the truck and dragging him backwards for over 10 meters. Video: Honda launches CBR1000RR Casey Stoner Replica

The Australian arm of Honda launched a special edition Fireblade to celebrate the 2007 MotoGP World Champion signing for Honda in 2011. The bike comes with a plate of authenticity, a Repsol seat cowl and Stoner decals mounted on the motorcycle. The manufacturer released a video to promote the special edition Fireblade starring Casey Stoner. MotoGP Portugal: Dani Pedrosa stops Lorenzo

After a race long duel with Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa raced to victory at the Grande Premio de Portugal. Pedrosa who only recently had surgery on his injured shoulder, had been seemingly pacing himself behind the leader, Lorenzo, until the final three laps, when the Repsol Honda rider, passed the Yamaha down the straight and then delivered a succession of fastest laps to pass the chequered flag first. Pedrosa finished just over three seconds ahead of the reigning MotoGP World Champion and closed the gap on Lorenzo’s lead in the standings to just four points. Read the full article »
