BMW, Honda and Yamaha cooperate on designing connected motorcycles

Three large manufacturers this week announced an agreement to jointly develop connected motorcycles, with focus on safety. The brands will promote the Cooperative-Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for powered two-wheelers and form a central coordinating unit called Connected Motorcycle Consortium. Custom 1979 BMW R100RT Desert sled by Los Muertos Motorcycles

This custom BMW R100RT is not the fastest custom bike we’ve seen this year but in this case, speed is absolutely irrelevant because this bike looks just stunning. The Desert sled was built by a small custom garage in Cape Town, South Africa and the goal was to build something that’s very aesthetically driven. BMW Concept Path 22: BMW’s own scrambler

It seems that scramblers are truly back. After Triumph and Ducati, BMW also created its own (custom) scrambler that was revealed yesterday at the Wheels & Waves Festival in Biarritz, France. Based on the existing R nineT, the Path 22 is BMW Motorrad’s first-ever Scrambler. BMW and Roland Sands Design reveal the extraordinary Concept 1

BMW Motorrad presents a breathtaking concept study, the BMW Motorrad Concept 101 at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Orlando Bloom’s BMW S 1000 R Custom presented – video

Everyone knows Orlando Bloom as a successful actor, but not everyone knows about his passion for motorbikes. As a long-standing fan of BMW motorcycles, Orlando Bloom owns and rides a number of BMW models, including old classics. BMW to introduce jacket with Alpinestars airbag technology

BMW Motorrad and Alpinestars announced that they will work together to make BMW riding gear safer. The first product to be launched under this cooperation will be a BMW Motorrad jacket that includes an airbag waistcoat developed using Alpinestars technology. The new BMW Motorrad jacket, will be available in both male and female versions and the public presentation of this newly developed airbag jacket will be held later this year. Read the full article »

BMW Japan’s Straight Six project results in crazy K 1600 GTL custom bikes

„Ignite Straight 6" is a custom project of the manufacturer involving the K 1600 GTL, BMW’s flagship model equipped with a straight-six engine and some of Japan’s best custom motorcycle builders. BMW Japan has just revealed two custom bikes of the project, one from Keiji Kawakita of HOT-DOCK CUSTOM-CYCLES and Kenji Nagai of Ken’s Factor – both of them are pioneering figures on Japan’s custom bike scene. Read the full article »

BMW patents three-cylinder engines

BMW is known for its opposed cylinders sticking out of each sides of their bikes but that may change soon enough. The Bavarian manufacturer has just patented two different three-cylinder engines.
