Video: Casey Stoner on the 2012 MotoGP Honda prototype

Casey Stoner tested the 2012 Repsol Honda prototype in Jerez yesterday. “Everything has gone very well, very positive. It’s just nice to ride the 1000cc again, to feel the engine and the power,” said Stoner. “I had a lot of fun, I enjoyed the first day because everything we’ve tried seems to be working, so no complaints. The biggest disappointment is that Dani is not going be here to test as he is important to the development of this bike. I hope that soon HRC can get his input as well because we need as much data as possible, in order to be ready for next season.” Check the video after the jump. Read the full article »

Stoner cruises to MotoGP win in Le Mans, Rossi takes 3rd

Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner secured victory for the first time in his career at the Le Mans circuit in Sunday’s Monster Energy Grand Prix de France. It was a close battle until the very end between two Italians for second place but it was the second Repsol Honda of Andrea Dovizioso who clinched the 20 points, ahead of Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) who achieved his first rostrum riding the Desmosedici. Stoner took his 25th premier class career win after a dominant ride to pull away at the front and win by a margin of over 14 seconds. Read the full article »

Yamaha MotoGP truck kills biker

One of Yamaha Tech3 MotoGP team’s trucks was involved in an accident that has killed a motorcyclist. The 54-year old rider died at the La Ciotat toll booth on the A50 highway in France. The motorcyclist stopped behind a big truck waiting in the queue to pay the toll. The driver of the semi-trailer for some reason backed up at the toll booth and hit the biker, trapping him under the truck and dragging him backwards for over 10 meters. Video: Honda launches CBR1000RR Casey Stoner Replica

The Australian arm of Honda launched a special edition Fireblade to celebrate the 2007 MotoGP World Champion signing for Honda in 2011. The bike comes with a plate of authenticity, a Repsol seat cowl and Stoner decals mounted on the motorcycle. The manufacturer released a video to promote the special edition Fireblade starring Casey Stoner. MotoGP Portugal: Dani Pedrosa stops Lorenzo

After a race long duel with Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa raced to victory at the Grande Premio de Portugal. Pedrosa who only recently had surgery on his injured shoulder, had been seemingly pacing himself behind the leader, Lorenzo, until the final three laps, when the Repsol Honda rider, passed the Yamaha down the straight and then delivered a succession of fastest laps to pass the chequered flag first. Pedrosa finished just over three seconds ahead of the reigning MotoGP World Champion and closed the gap on Lorenzo’s lead in the standings to just four points. Read the full article »

MotoGP goes to Austin, Texas

Dorna Sports has announced signing a ten-year contract bringing MotoGP to the new Circuit of the Americas facility in Austin, Texas from 2013. This agreement includes the three categories of the World Championship; the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3. The addition of a ten-year MotoGP deal is coupled with the already scheduled ten-year deal to host the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, for which the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas is currently under construction. Read the full article »

Lorenzo reigns in Spain, Rossi and Stoner crashes

Jorge Lorenzo took victory in the wet MotoGP race at the Gran Premio bwin de España after Marco Simoncelli crashed whilst leading. It was a Spanish one-two with Dani Pedrosa claiming second position and Nicky Hayden in third. In a race which was run in wet conditions, making it very slippery, Simoncelli was on his way to his first victory in the premier class with a three second advantage over Lorenzo. Read the full article »

Stoner wins season-opening Qatar MotoGP

With its victory in Qatar, Stoner is the first rider to win 800cc races with two different manufacturers, Ducati and Honda. The Australian was followed by Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and teammate Dani Pedrosa. Stoner dominated the whole weekend at the Losail International Circuit, as he also took pole position and recorded the fastest lap of the race with a 1:55.366. In addition to that, Stoner had some problems with a full gas tank, that „sloweed” him down at the beginning. Read the full article »

2011 Rizla Suzuki GSV-R revealed

Rizla Suzuki has officially unveiled its updated 2011 GSV-R racing bike. The machine which Álvaro Bautista will be riding in this season’s MotoGP World Championship is the final generation of the 800cc GSV-R four-stroke prototype Grand Prix bike, due to the change in capacity limit to 1000cc next season. The latest version of Suzuki’s MotoGP challenger features an engine that has improved on its horsepower, driveability and durability through many detailed development changes throughout winter and pre-season testing. Read the full article »

Racing colours for the 2011 Derbi GPR 50 and GPR 125

Derbi launched the GPR 50 and GPR 125 last Summer, and now, the manufacturer is celebrating Marc Marquez with new racing colours. The reason is simple: Marquez won 10 races in the 125cc class of the 2010 MotoGP World Championship. The Italian brand has now nine Manufacturer’s world titles and twelve Rider’s world titles. To celebate the latest world title, Derbi released a special version of the GPR 50 and GPR 125 bikes. Both bikes features new „Racing grey” and „Racing red” color schemes. Read the full article »
