Video: Stay a hero, stay safe

„Stay A Hero” is the latest campaign from the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership, aiming to reduce the number of motorcyclists killed and seriously injured on the roads. „The film looks to remind bikers to ride safely for both themselves and their loved ones, and that they can inspire the next generation to ride skilfully and safely. Coming from a family of motorcyclists I hope the film illustrates the important contribution bikers make as role models and how their actions and approach to riding can directly influence those who look up to them,” said Daniel Cox, the writer and creator of ‘Stay a Hero, Stay Safe’. Read the full article »

Video: Ducati Diavel commercial and behind the scenes video

Rumors say that the Ducati Diavel is doing great in sales, but it’s really no surprise. The Italian “power cruiser” looks beautiful, its 1200cc V-twin is powerful, the bike has fully adjustable suspension, front and rear, meaning it’s one of the sportiest nakeds on the market, although it doesn’t have any near rivals. Now, Ducati released two videos about the bike. The first one is the new commercial of the Diavel, while the other shows you how much effort goes into a one-minute video spot. Video: Motocross base jumping in Chile

Fearless Chilean base jumper Julio Munoz decided to perform a death-defying stunt in the Chilean Andes. The world-famous stuntman is clearly crazy – but he makes great videos of his feats. Wearing a helmet-mounted camera he sped his 450cc bike off a cliff before opening his parachute just 200ft from the ground while the bike crashed into the side of the mountain. The stunt is thought to have taken three years to plan and cost more than $100,000. Read the full article »

Video: Chris Pfeiffer explains how to stoppie

A couple of days ago, we showed you BMW Motorrad’s video of Chris Pfeiffer explaining the wheelie. This time, Pfeiffer is explaining and performing a stopping. „The Stoppie, sometimes also called a front wheelie is a motorcycle trick that does not only look extremely cool -- it's also quite hard to perform. Funny video: Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 vs Ducati Hypermotard 1100 Evo vs KTM 990 SMR

Until now the big supermoto category has been ruled by the KTM 990 Supermoto R and the Ducati Hypermotard 1100 EVO, which was recently updated for the 2011 model year. Now, there’s a new player out there. The Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 features a host of electronic rider aids and the Italian machine offers the most powerful V-twin engine in the category. Video: BMW S1000 RR vs. Ariel Atom V8

Famous UK TV show Top Gear tested the Ariel Atom V8, which is powered by two inline-four motorcycle engines. The supercharged 3,0-liter V8 delivers 500hp while weighing only 1200 pounds. The means the Atom has 900 horsepower per tonne, a ratio that shames everything from the Lotus to the Lexus LF-A. The BMW S1000 RR features a 999cc inline-four that produces 193 hp, 83 lb-ft or torque and can rev up to 14,200. The bike has a power-to-weight ratio of 1,055 horsepower per tonne. Read the full article »

Video: Electric superbike podiums against gas bikes

Chip Yates is an AMA Pro Racer who decided in 2009 that he will build an electric superbike that beats gas bikes. Well, the time has come, Chip and the SWIGZ.com Pro Racing Team made history yesterday, finishing second and third against gas-powered competitors in the WERA Heavyweight Twins classes at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. In the race, the electric machine did gasoline bike lap times, and reached 154 mph top speed. Read the full article »

Dakar – stage 5 video summary

Francisco Lopez has made a habit of winning at least one stage at home since the Dakar has been hosted by his country. Last year, “Chaleco” missed out on this prestigious stage due to a navigational mistake. This time, after a faultless performance all along the 423 km of the Day’s special, the Chilean fans’ favourite offered himself a royal descent down to the now famous finish at Iquique, with its 3 in 10 gradient and many spectators. Success seemed to be on the side of Lopez, because when it came to totting up, he appeared to have won the stage by one second from Frans Verhoeven. Read the full article »
