Harley-Davidson now offers the Screamin’ Eagle 120 crate motor

The American manufacturer has just announced the availability of a new engine. The Screamin’ Eagle 120 is a huge, 196cc (120 cubic-inch) V-Twin that produces 106 horsepower and 117 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheel. The engine is already available in the new Touring models while certification is pending for 2010 - 2014 Touring models. Hesketh is working on the “Bugatti Veyron of motorcycles”

Hesketh, a small British manufacturer announced that they will reveal the “Bugatti Veyron” of the bikes in two years. To put it into perspective, here are some facts of the other bike that Hesketh already offers: the motorcycle, called the 24 is powered by a 1,950cc air-cooled V-Twin and carries a price tag of £35,000 ($53,700 or €47,500). Peugeot Kisbee is Europe’s No. 1 scooter

Peugeot are celebrating a podium top spot for their Kisbee scooter in the race for European motorcycle and scooter sales. Figures released by The Motorcycle Industry in Europe (ACEM) show that, for the second year running, Peugeot's Kisbee 50 was Europe’s most popular scooter, selling 43% more than its nearest rival in the charts, the Honda SH150AD. Read the full article »

Gas Gas has financial issues, production halts

Spanish manufacturer Gas Gas was forced by investors to halt production while company president Yariv Gilat is in talks with banks to reach new agreements. The financial issues of the company are very serious: not just the production line had to be stopped: research and development division and even spare part production have come to a complete halt. Harley-Davidson reports 2014 fiscal results

Harley achieved a great year of financial performance of 2014, selling 267,999 motorcycles a 2.7% increase from the 260,839 motorcycles sold in 2013. Sales revenue is up 7.8%, pushing the bottom line to a profit of $844.6 million. Harley-Davidson claims strong sales for the Road Glide, Ultra Low, Ultra Limited Low, CVO Street Glide, Freewheeler and Street models. Read the full article »

KTM outselled BMW in 2014

KTM reported a new company record in both sales and revenue for 2014, for the fourth time in a row. In the business year of 2014, KTM sold 158,760 bikes (Husqvarna included) worldwide, a 28.2% increase compared to previous year. The Austrians also reported a 20.7% increase in revenue (€864.6 million) with an expected EBIT of more than €75 million. Read the full article »

Polaris buys e-bike maker Brammo

Polaris Industries has acquired electric motorcycle manufacturer Brammo. According to the short press release, Brammo will focus exclusively on the design, development and integration of electric vehicle powertrains. The acquisition means that the Brammo brand will most likely vanish but we may see some new electric or hybrid motorcycles in a couple of years. Read the full article »

Logos Technologies to develop 2WD Hybrid-Electric Military Motorcycle

Gogoro unveils Smartscooter, the electric scooter of the future

Taiwanese startup Gogoro revealed its new Smartscooter during the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. The Smartscooter is not just a new electric bike - the company has proposed a new idea to dramatically reduce battery recharge time – the Gogoro Energy Network, “a modular battery-swapping infrastructure for electric vehicles like the Smartscooter that can be deployed across a city to provide portable power.” Read the full article »
