Polaris buys e-bike maker Brammo

Polaris Industries has acquired electric motorcycle manufacturer Brammo. According to the short press release, Brammo will focus exclusively on the design, development and integration of electric vehicle powertrains. The acquisition means that the Brammo brand will most likely vanish but we may see some new electric or hybrid motorcycles in a couple of years. Read the full article »

Logos Technologies to develop 2WD Hybrid-Electric Military Motorcycle

Gogoro unveils Smartscooter, the electric scooter of the future

Taiwanese startup Gogoro revealed its new Smartscooter during the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. The Smartscooter is not just a new electric bike - the company has proposed a new idea to dramatically reduce battery recharge time – the Gogoro Energy Network, “a modular battery-swapping infrastructure for electric vehicles like the Smartscooter that can be deployed across a city to provide portable power.” Read the full article »

Walz Hardcore Cycles has filed for bankruptcy

But now Walz Cycles has filed for bankruptcy and CEO Michael Krohek has sacked all seven employees. Husqvarna will become a retro brand

KTM CEO Stefan Pierer has just announced his plan with Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna: it will be positioned as a retro motorcycle brand, according to an interview with Speedweek. Pierer basically revealed that they will reposition the 110-year old brand. Chinese 250cc V-Twin revealed

The Chinese have just revealed a Europen patent of a V-Twin that suggests that they may have plans to offer bikes in the old continent. The engine was introduced at a recent motorcycle show in Guangzhou, China. Now, before you laugh at them, just take a look at recent made-in-China cars and realize how fast their car manufacturers got in the last ten years. They certainly have the money to buy a smaller European or Japanese manufacturer to get the know-how and with an attractive price tag, the well-established companies could face a serious challenge. Read the full article »
