Dakar – stage 2 video summary

The two title holders, Cyril Despres and Carlos Sainz, both won their second consecutive stage on the Personal Dakar Argentina Chile 2011. In the bike category, the Frenchman boasts a lead of 2’35” over Marc Coma. Already delighted with the performance of Ruben Faria during the afternoon, Cyril Despres learned yesterday evening that in fact he had picked up victory on stage 1, after a one minute penalty was handed out to his team-mate for breaking the speed limit. Read the full article »

Dakar – Stage 1 video summary

Portuguese rider Ruben Faria (KTM 450 Rally) won the first stage of Dakar yesterday, while Cyril Despres (France, KTM) and Marc Coma (Spain, KTM) finished second and third. After downloading the GPS data from the instruments of Ruben Faria, the race officials have handed down a one minute penalty to him for a slight breach of the speed limits. As a result, he loses the best time of the day by a whisker, which has gone to Cyril Despres, declared winner of the first stage. Video: Honda NRS 250

From 2013, Moto3 replaces the 125GP and the bikes on the grid will be powered by Honda engines. The Japanese brand finally released a video about the new bike. The 250cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine can rev up to 14,000 rpm and should make close to 50hp. The new video gives us an idea what the final shape of the machine will look like. Yamaha announces 2011 supercross teams

Yamaha Motor Corporation announced its entire line-up of teams for the 2011 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. Headlining the assault is James Stewart signed a two-year contract with L & M Racing, James is looking forward to winning his second title for Yamaha on his YZ450F. 2010 Isle of Man TT available in blue-ray HD

The latest innovation in coverage of the Isle of Man TT by North One Television now gives fans the chance to experience the Mountain course like never before. During the 2010 TT, all on-bike cameras were High Definition for the very first time. That has allowed Isle of Man-based Duke, famous for bringing fans the annual Official Reviews of the TT, to release a series of complete on-boards laps of the 37.3-mile course on Blu-ray disc. Read the full article »

Video: Paris Hilton presents her 125cc MotoGP team in Madrid

Paris Hilton unveiled her MotoGP racing team in Madrid on Saturday. The two Aprilia RSA will compete in the 125cc category from 2011-2013 with riders Sergio Gadea and Maverick Vinales. The hotel chain heiress entertained the attending press by posing next to the bikes which were pink, white and blue fairings. Hilton also agreed to attend at least five races next season. Video: KTM 450 Rally in action

The 2011 Dakar Rally kicks off in Argentina on 1st January, and KTM’s newest machine, the 450 Rally will be competitive, that’s for sure. The following riders will be competing on the KTM: Cyril Despres, Marc Coma, Juan Pedero and Rubin Faria. The machine features chromium-molybdenum trellis frame, a 449cc single-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed gearbox. The 450 Rally has a dry weight of 150kg (330lbs) and features a 35-liter (9.2 gallons) fuel tank that saddles the frame. The 450 Rally carries a price tag of €29,300 ($41,200). Read the full article »

BMW restructures superbike team

In an effort to gain future success, the Bavarian manufacturer announced some changes at the superbike team. Rainer Baumel (44) is appointed Head of Race Operations, while Stephan Fischer (43) is now the new Head of Development for BMW Motorrad Motorsport. Josef Hoffmann (54) takes up the post of Managing Director with immediate effect. All three report directly to Bernhard Gobmeier, who was appointed BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director back in October. Read the full article »

Paris Hilton’s 125cc MotoGP team’s livery revealed

Paris Hilton already got the attention of the international media after she bought her own MotoGP team. The american billionaire will be present at Hotel ME in Madrid tomorrow, but they already revealed the livery of her SuperMartxé VIP team. This is what Sergio Gadea and Maverick Vinales will be riding next season and I’m pretty sure the two riders aren’t happy in this moment. Aprilia won’t compete in MotoGP

The International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) announced new regulations for the 2012 MotoGP earlier this year, and it seems Aprilia doesn’t like these new engine rules. In 2012, the bikes will be powered by 1000cc engines, and it was believed manufacturers that compete in the WSBK would shift to MotoGP. But appearently, Aprilia won’t do that. The technical director of the company, Luigi dall’Igna said in a recent interview with Italian magazine Autosprint: “You need to consider that Aprilia is a manufacturer that has reaped a lot of success in the series it has participated in," Read the full article »
