Video: Handcrafted in Chennai – Royal Enfield heritage

Royal Enfield is officially the oldest motorcycle manufacturer in the world that’s still in production. The company started making motorcycles in the UK in the late-1890s, and did well until the 1960’s. The firm closed its UK shop in 1971, but the name didn’t disappear. In 1995, an Indian company managed to buy the right to the Royal Enfield name. Now, the brand is building various versions of the Bullet 350 and the Bullet 500. Video: Ducati 848 EVO appears in Mercedes C63 AMG commercial

German firm Mercedes-Benz and Italian manufacturer Ducati announced their partnerhip last November, which includes sponsorship of the Ducati MotoGP team as well as various marketing opportunities. Now, we can see the first of likely many commercials featuring this partnership. Mercedes-Benz’s high-performance tuning subsidiary AMG has released the C63 AMG, which tries to beat a woman riding a Ducati 848 EVO. Read the full article »

Video: Keira Knightley and the Ducati 750 Sport

If you remember, a couple of months ago 25-year-old British actress Keira Knightley shot a new Chanel advertisement at Concorde Place in Paris. Now, we can see both the teaser video and the full length version of the Coco Madamoiselle film „Gabrielle” directed by Joe Wright. Clearly, Keira wasn’t riding the Ducati 750 Sport as the bike was on training wheels during the shoot. And the Ducati? Saline Bird Concept

This concept was designed for the speed record holders Les Triplettes de Bonneville. French designers from ISD of Valenciennes Charles-Edouard Berche, Ugo Spagnolo , Adrien Fuinesl, Frédéric Dobbelstein, and Jean-Philippe Paries built a motorcycle powered by a compressed air engine. The Saline Bird features carbon fibre frame that holds the air tanks. If you want, you can add a leather body panel to the bike for an aerdynamic finish. Read the full article »

Funny video: Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 vs Ducati Hypermotard 1100 Evo vs KTM 990 SMR

Until now the big supermoto category has been ruled by the KTM 990 Supermoto R and the Ducati Hypermotard 1100 EVO, which was recently updated for the 2011 model year. Now, there’s a new player out there. The Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 features a host of electronic rider aids and the Italian machine offers the most powerful V-twin engine in the category. Roland Sands Design Ducati Desmosedici Street Tracker

Justyn Amstutz, proud owner of 3 Desmo’s thought one of his bikes should be transformed into a street tracker. The project is well under way, the sub frame has been complete as well as the gas tank base/airbox cover, top and sides. RSD machined a new fuel pump base and mounted it in the bottom of the tank above the exhaust exit and rear cylinder head at an aesthetically pleasing angle. The motorcycle builder who will never run out of time – wristwatch motorcycles

Brazilian artist Jose Geraldo Reis Pfau creates gorgeous motorcycle miniatures using only parts from old wristwatches. The inspiration for the sculptures came from other similar pieces of art. He started this project using regular keys, developing motorcycle images. Through research in publications and web sites he got to know of other artists who have been working on a similar project. There are wonderful pieces of work made of wood, potery, screws, wires, but the ones identified exclusively with pieces of watches and glasses seem to be something new. Read the full article »

Bottpower BOTT XR-1 – Rebuild your Buell

Spanish Moto2 racing team Bottpower is working on a new project for a private customer, called the BOTT XR-1. The bike is based on a Buell, who acts as a donor of wheels, suspensions, brakes, engine and swingarm. The intention is to create a motorbike with flattrack aesthetics, based on the Harley XR 750 racers. Bottpower says the bike will be fun to ride, and the Harley XR1200 is the most similar thing you can find on the market. The BOTT XR-1 will weight 170kg and will have more power than 100hp. Read the full article »

Faro bike designed by Paul Jr.

After several teaser photos, Paul Jr. Designs, the company owned by Paul Teutul Jr. finally revealed the Faro bike. The custom machine was built by Paul Jr., who has partnered with Renegade Wheels. According to the announcement, Paul Jr. will use the wheels of Renegade on its future bikes. “As a new company we are only working with the best vendors in the industry.
