New dirt helmet from Z1R

Z1R Helmets developed a new dirt helmet for entry-level riders. MV Agusta enters the Canadian market

The iconic Italian brand will be available soon in Canada, as MV Agusta has named Motovan Corp. as its exclusive importer for the Canadian market. “We have finally succeeded in obtaining all of the necessary approvals from the Canadian authorities therefore the motorcycles can be imported into Canada for the very first time in the history of MV Agusta. KTM 250 Duke in the pipeline?

Since 2004, the Austrian company has consistently developed its on-road expertise. Both the 690 and 990 Dukes are exciting machines, while the newest member of the Duke family, the 125 was revealed earlier this year at the Intermot show in Cologne. The launch of a new Duke with a displacement of 250-300cc would be reasonable, and Stefan Pierer, the president of KTM confirmed this rumor to Alan Cathcart. Read the full article »

Video: Ducati Monstrosity reversed trike by TreMoto

TreMoto is a technology development organization focused on providing safety and performance improvements to motorcycles. In creating a reverse trike with a patented leaning suspension, based off of a Ducati Monster 620, TreMoto has found the ultimate way of combining the visceral thrill of riding a motorcycle with added safety and stability desired by riders everywhere. 2011 Yamaha YZF-R1: new colors

2011 looks like the end of the road for the current R1 as we know because the 2012 version will be a brand new, radical machine. You could ask, why do we think that? Because the Japanese only add graphics to their top-of-the-line sportsbike, instead of making improvements to the handling/engine/suspension. The 2011 version features the same 998cc, DOHC, four-valve in-line which produces 182hp at 12,500rpm and 85 lb.ft. at 10,000rpm. The bike has a fuel consumption of 40mpg (5,88 l/100km). Read the full article »

Mugen Honda CBR250R revealed

The Japanese brand already caused a sensation in the motorcycle world earlier this year when they revealed the CBR250R. The bike has a reasonable large displacement engine which outperforms the 125cc category. Now the manufacturer’s in-house tuner, Mugen created a more sporty and agressive version, thanks to the combination of the red and black color scheme. In order to match the body color, seat riders are colored red with Mugen emblems. The guys at Mugen replaced the standard muffler but there’s no word on performance. Read the full article »

AGV expands its off-road helmet lineup

After celebrating its return to the off-road and motocross markets in early 2010 with the release of its thermoplastic resin MT-X helmet, AGV expands its off-road products family with 2 new helmets. First is the high-end AX-8, with its carbon-Kevlar-fiber shell. Video: Ferrari 458 Italia vs Ducati 1198S

Car vs motorcycle videos often useless but Motor Trend found two gorgeous Italian machines that are noble opponents. The 458 Italia features a 4.5-litre V8 that produces 557hp, accelerates from zero to 160 km/h in 7.0 seconds and does the quarter mile in 11.1 seconds. Ferrari’s already iconic car costs about $230,000. In the blue corner, there’s another expensive Italian machine, the Ducati 1198 S. The motorcycle is powered by a 1198cc V-twin that delivers 170hp at 9750rpm. Read the full article »

Study: safer doesn’t necessarily mean slower

Researchers at The University of Nottingham’s Centre for Motorcycle Ergonomics & Rider Human Factors have investigated the attitudes and skills of different types of riders according to their level of experience and training, using a motorcycle simulator. A unique approach was designed to find out whether or not riders with advanced training, ride differently to novice or experienced riders who don’t have an advanced qualification. The simulator uses a Triumph Daytona 675 motorcycle mounted on a custom rig designed and built at the University. Read the full article »
