After celebrating its return to the off-road and motocross markets in early 2010 with the release of its thermoplastic resin MT-X helmet, AGV expands its off-road products family with 2 new helmets. First is the high-end AX-8, with its carbon-Kevlar-fiber shell. Developed over the past 2 years in close collaboration with AGV’s team of pro riders on both sides of the Atlantic, including American X Games and Supercross stars Travis Pastrana and Davi Millsaps and European Motocross, Enduro and Supermotard champs like David Philippaerts, Deny Philippaerts, Gautier Paulin, the AX-8 brings AGV back into the world of dirt with an original design and highly technical characteristics.

The design is pure AGV style with an evident family feeling in the shape of its shell and the front air vents and rear extractors that show influence from AGV’s road racing helmets and the MT-X. For the shell construction AGV used and SSL layering made of carbon, Kevlar and fiberglass in order to keep the weight low while ensuring the maximum safety. The AX-8 comes in 3 shell sizes which, combine with various inner liner combination of cheek-pads and crown-pads allow for a size run ranging XXS to XXXL. The helmet weighs at an average of 1.350g and is certified DOT/ECE2205 for the US market.

The other new arrival in the AGV family is an adventure, dual-sport, helmet, the AX-8 Dual. Based on the AX-8 shell, this extremely versatile helmet is designed for the growing adventure touring segment with an on-road and-off road use. To the strong safety and comfort characteristics of its motocross cousin, specific technical features have been added to the AX-8 Dual. The added features include the shield and its specific fully opening mechanism, the opening chin vents as well as an additional opening air-intake on the top of the helmet.

The integrated IVS ventilation system receives the addition of an air-intake on top of the helmet with an open/close position as well as a chin guard vent – which can be easily removed without the use of tools – with an open/closed mechanism for adjustment of the airflow inside the helmet. The AX-8 Dual comes with a new AGV Flat Dual shield in non-scratch, anti-fog, polycarbonate and has a specific mechanism that offers gradual shield opening. The AX-8 Dual visor has been designed to reduce the sail-effect during travel to a minimum.

The helmet can be configured in 3 different set-ups:
1. Supermotard/Adventure Touring – with visor and shield.
2. Off-Road – with visor and no shield.
3. Street/Naked Bikes – with shield and no visor.
