After announcing increased sales in the second quarter of 2010, the motorcycle division of BMW reported additional positivity for July. The sales of the German manufacturer rose 4.4% to 10,022 over 500cc, a segment that’s been on the negative side of sales across all manufacturers lately. BMW sold 9604 motorcycles in July 2009 in this segment. In the January-July period, BMW sold more than 67 000 motorcycles (previous year: 56 578). The best-selling model is – no surprise – the long-distance enduro, the R1200 GS, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
