BMW “Concept Roadster” – BMW Roadster Revolution

The aspirations of BMW Motorrad with regard to future generations of boxer-powered roadsters take concrete, emotionally charged shape at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2014 in the form of the BMW Concept Roadster. Last year BMW Motorrad presented the BMW Concept Ninety here - a modern interpretation of a classic BMW motorcycle with boxer engine that demonstrated just how emotional a retrospective on 90 years of BMW Motorrad can be. Husqvarna reveals world’s first ABS for off-road racing

Husqvarna Motorcycles is pleased to be the first manufacturer in the world to present an ABS for off-road racing in the current flagship model, the TE 449. BMW Motorrad first brought out an off-road ABS with lockable rear wheel in 2007. A comparable system is already in serial production in the form of the "Slick" mode of the ABS in the BMW S 1000 RR. Here, the system allows the rider to block the rear wheel for so-called brake drifts by deactivating the ABS function in the rear wheel. Read the full article »

Video: Ducati Diavel Rizoma accessories

Rizoma has created a complete line of accessories to the Ducati Diavel. The kit includes an innovative aluminium handlebar which will improve riding position for some (height 8mm lower, open grip angle of +7°). Rizoma offers the latest side protections for the radiator and frame, the water pump guard, the newest EVO rearsets and two types of license support plates. Study: Lane splitting is safe

A new study says lane splitting could be the global solution for motorcycle safety. Motorcycle safety researcher Steve Guderian compares instances of rear-end collisions in California - where lane splitting is not expressly prohibited - to states with similar riding seasons and number of riders. The data from NHTSA shows that California does have a lower rate of fatal rear-end motorcycle crashes when compared to other similar motorcycling states. Read the full article »

BMW introduces Dynamic Damping Control for future motorcycles

As part of its BMW Motorrad Innovation Day 2011, the Bavarian manufacturer introduced a new semiactive suspension control system called Dynamic Damping Control (DDC). As early as 1986, BMW Motorrad achieved a milestone in suspension technology by launching the Paralever swingarm, an innovation that considerably improved rear suspension and the transfer of forces. In 1993, the freshly launched opposed twin “boxer” engine series was the first to be fitted as standard with a front suspension system that operated independently of the rear known as Telelever. Read the full article »

New Harley-Davidson Touring, Trike and Sportster models arrive at dealerships

Harley-Davidson has begun delivery of all 15 models in the 2012 Touring, Trike (North America only) and Sportster lines to its dealers in the U.S. and Europe. These motorcycles will be available for sale immediately. Shipment of these select 2012 models has been accelerated to provide greater continuity of supply in dealerships during the peak summer selling season.
