Naked BMW S1000 RR from California

When BMW introduced the S1000 RR back in 2009, rumours suggested that there will be a naked version. But then the manufacturer shattered these rumours, so small tuners have to do the job. So did the California-based Evoluzione Cyclesports. The naked version is equipped with raised streetfighter handlebars and integrated mirrors. The US tuner that sells tuning parts for Aprilia, Benelli, Bimota, BMW, Ducati and KTM, kept the asymmetrical headlight but removed most of the plastic. Read the full article »

Video: Help save the ’Ring

The Nürburgring doesn’t need any introduction, the famous German circuit is simply legendary, Jackie Stewart once called the track the Green Hell. This historical circuit, which opened in 1927, is being threatened by a €400 million debt. The scenario is typical. From 2007-2009 the German government built a huge Leisure Park at the Nürburgring. The „Save the Ring” Facebook group claims it is based on fake visitor numbers, oversized and badly executed. Read the full article »

Can-Am developing hybrid Spyder

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is investing CN$5.1 million into the Centre de Technologies Avancees BRP at Quebec’s Universite de Sherbrooke as a support to develop hybrid engine technology for BRP’s Can-Am Spyder roadster. Additionally, the Canadien Government will add an extra US$6.1 million into the four-year project. The Can-Am Spyder roadster, first launched in 2007, is a totally unique machine, and the hybrid version will be the only electric hybrid roadster development project in the world. Read the full article »

Honda starts lease sales of the EV-neo electric scooter

Honda Motor Co. announced that it will start lease sales of the EV-neo electric scooter on Friday, December 24, 2010. The EV-neo is an electric scooter developed for businesses such as transport of heavy goods or delivery services and which delivers a clean and quiet ride without compromising powerfulness. 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R on technical hold

The American arm of Kawasaki has announced it is placing a technical hold on the 2011 Ninja ZX-10R sportbike. According to the manufacturer, there will be two actions initiated through the Kawasaki dealer network. “The company is proactively addressing a remedy which reflects Kawasaki’s commitment to excellence and its relationship with its highly valued customers and dealer network” says the company’s statement. Read the full article »

Arnold Schwarzenegger is AMA motorcyclist of the year

The AMA has chosen Schwarzenegger as its Motorcyclist of the Year because he signed California Senate Bill 435, which brings EPA noise enforcement standards to the Golden State. With this law, California will require “every new motorcycle or aftermarket exhaust system built starting in 2013 to carry a stamp on the exhaust certifying that it meets federal Environmental Protection Agency sound requirements.” Read the full article »

Harley loaned $2.3 billion from Fed

Federal Reserve’s recently revealed documents disclose who benefited from a government loan program during 2008. The data shows that Federal Reserve secretly loaned trillions of dollars to major companies including Harley-Davidson. The motorcycle manufacturer got $2.3 billion to help cover operating expenses during the economic crisis. Bloomberg says the money was from the Fed’s Commercial Paper Funding Facility, which also dispersed money to General Electric, Verizon, Barclay’s and McDonalds. Read the full article »

EU Commission recommends mandatory ABS for motorcycles from 2017

The EU commission has recently announced its plans to make ABS mandatory for motorcycles. The presented proposal is currently passing through the EU legislative procedure, and will likely be adopted next year. The regulation is to come into effect from 2017. On the basis of a new generation of brake control systems, Bosch has developed an independent series for motorcycles for the first time. “The ABS 9 systems for motorcycles are the world’s smallest,” says Dr. Werner Struth, president of the Bosch Chassis Systems Control division. Read the full article »
