Taddy Blazusiak’s signature event took place last weekend in Poland. We had talked to Taddy about his new hard enduro event.

The Red Bull 111 Megawatt hard enduro was reaching the final countdown, as the inaugural event took place last weekend in Poland. The Taddy Blazusiak inspired race being held at the Belchatow Lignite mine has been put together in a matter of months and we checked in with Taddy himself to see how things have progressed.

“At first the guys at Red Bull Poland came up with the idea to create a hard enduro race that is unique. They didn’t want to copy some other event, which I think they have achieved, and they wanted to start something that is going to grow in the future,“ said Taddy, talking off the back of his recent Atlanta EnduroCross win.

The five time Erzbergrodeo winner, five time SuperEnduro World champion, five time EnduroCross champion and multiple X-Games gold medal holder, along with many other titles, is proud to be part of the event, which has been dedicated to him, as the track layout is going to be incredibly challenging. The open pit mine is the biggest hole dug by man in Europe, and is expected to be a fantastic location for a hard enduro event with great viewing for spectators.

“The place is special as it’s a mine, so it’s kind of like Erzberg in a way, but the dirt is very different; it’s very sandy, and the track layout will be super different from anything else too. It’s going to be hard enduro, but you have to be a complete rider to be pretty competitive, as it’s got some old school enduro, endurocross, which will be like an endurocross straight rhythm and then some typical hard enduro elements in it,” continued the KTM ace.

With hard enduro really growing, Poland has really embraced the event, and home hero Taddy Blazusiak has been keeping track of the event’s progress, despite being incredibly busy with his own racing.

“My input is definitely helping out, as I’m going to race the event, and a good friend of mine designed the track together with me. I haven’t been there recently, but we talked a lot, so we put our ideas together. I’m super confident it’s going to be a really fun one. The important thing is there’s a good group of people behind the event, who are really passionate about what they are doing.”

There’s 600 people already booked in to race, which is really impressive considering it’s only been announced officially for less than a couple of months; there’s still a few days to go for entries, and with riders like this year’s Erzberg Rodeo and Red Bull Romaniacs winner Jonny Walker along with Andreas Lettenbichler lining up to race, some of the world’s best are going to descend on Poland to make it one of the highest level events in the world. As Poland’s biggest enduro star, Blazusiak is proud to have it as his signature event, especially as he can race in front of his home fans.

“It’s huge for me and I loved the idea from the beginning. I’m really surprised with the numbers – we know hard enduro is really growing, but it’s really cool to see people are into it and the people of Poland are supporting it. To be in front of my home fans will be awesome, and there will be some top riders in to race too.”

Asked about who will win or who will be his biggest rivals and Blazusiak would not be pushed for an answer, other than he’s determined to put on a good show for the fans.

“I want to do the best job I can. My plan is always to get a good start, and if I can it would be good to run away with it. I’m not going to worry too much, as just having fun and riding my best has always worked for me in the past,”concluded Taddy.
