Kawasaki WSBK team lorries „found to contain drugs”

British newspaper The Telegraph reports that lorries belonging to the Kawasaki WSBK team were stopped by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) at Dover last month after arriving by road from Italy. On board of the trucks, officers allegedly found 18lbs of cocaine, 157lbs of amphetamine tablets and more than 220lbs of cannabis. A handgun and 35 rounds of ammunition were also found. Four technicians (Philip Roe, 40, mechanic and truck driver, Gary Matthews, 50, a truck driver and tyre technician; Mattia Fontana, 27, an Italian mechanic, and Daniel Swyer, 32, a mechanic) from Paul Bird Motorsport were arrested. Read the full article »

Kimi Räikkönen teams up with Kawasaki

Ex-Formula 1 driver Kimi Räikkönen has founded a Motocross team to challenge in both the MX1 and MX2 classes of the FIM MX World Championship. Next season the new ICE1RACING motocross team of Kimi Räikkönen will go after World Championship points. Kari Tiainen, the seven-time World Champion in Enduro, will be the team manager of the two young riders towards the Grand Prix title. Read the full article »

Akrapovic exhaust system for the Kawasaki Z1000 SX

Akrapovic announced a new racing exhaust sytem for the Kawasaki Z1000 / Z1000 SX. The system is designed for riders who demand maximum performance from their motorcycle and is almost 10 kg lighter than the stock exhaust. The pipe features hi-tech materials, such as titanium or carbon-fiber mufflers. The system is not street legal and is designed for racing purpose. 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R engine problem solved, sales resume in January

Kawasaki put the new Ninja ZX-10R on technical hold back in mid-December. After much speculation, the manufacturer revealed the problem. The Japanese engineers says that there was a possible surging of the intake valve spring when the bike operated under unique riding operations. According to the manufacturer, this surge could cause the intake valve to seat improperly, resulting in poor engine performance. Read the full article »
