Tyco Suzuki’s William Dunlop and Guy Martin finished one-two in tonight’s Supersport race at the Armoy Road Races in Northern Ireland.

The GSX-R600-mounted duo pulled away from third placed man Keith Amor at half distance, crossing the line some five seconds ahead of the Scottish rider at the end of the six-lap encounter.

Dunlop held off his team-mate by just 0.8sec at the chequered flag, posting the fastest lap of the race on the sixth and final circuit. Such was the pace, fourth-placed Michael Dunlop was eight seconds adrift of the Tyco Suzuki pair, with Dan Kneen, also Suzuki, mounted fifth.

William Dunlop:

“I really enjoyed that race with Guy. It was fair and honest and the wee 600s were really flying. A one-two shows the strength of the GSX-R600. Let’s hope we can do something similar tomorrow in both the 600 and Superbike classes.”

Guy Martin:

“Second is first loser as they say, but yes a good race with William and fair play to him. There wasn’t much in it at the end but tomorrow is another day and we’ll give it a good go around this ‘mint’ little circuit.”

Philip Neill – Team Manager:

“What a great start to Armoy for us and a one-two is always a special way to end races and reminds me of years gone by with a number of our previous riders. Well done to the organisers for getting a Supersport race in tonight after practice. Both boys are well in the ballpark in the Superbike class also, so let’s hope for a good safe day’s racing tomorrow.”

William Dunlop qualified second in the Superbike class and Guy Martin third for tomorrow’s Open and Grand Final encounters at Armoy. Roads close at 10am with an 11-race programme scheduled.
