Peugeot E-Vivacity electric scooter goes into production

Peugeot revealed its E-Vivacity electric scooter last November, and as expected, the machine goes into production in 2011. The brand released now more details about the motorcycle. The E-Vivacity is a 100% electric scooter, representing “a revolution in the urban mobility sector, a fun and handy vehicle, with excellent acceleration performances.” – says Peugeot. The technical specification of the bike backs up this statement: the E-Vivacity is light (115kg/254 lbs), and small (1910x680x1168mm). Read the full article »

Moto Guzzi 2011 lineup annouced

Moto Guzzi is a small brand compared to, say, BMW or Triumph, so a new motorcycle introduction from the manufacturer is a big news. The Italians made a splash at last year’s EICMA with the three V12 concepts, as well as the V7 Clubman Racer prototype that is now going into limited production as the V7 Racer. The company bought the V7 Racer, the totally revamped Norge GT tourer and Stelvio 1200 maxi enduro to this year’s EICMA. Read the full article »

Moto3 rules finally released

The GP Commission has finally announced the details on the upcoming Moto3 class, which will replace the 125cc 2-stroke category in 2012. The new machines will use a four-stroke 250cc single-cylinder engine with an 81mm maximum bore size. The organisers wanted to make the class cheaper than the current entry-level category so teams can only implement limited level of electronics and the engine will have a maximum rpm of 14,000. With multiple manufacturers able to offer engines and chassis for the new class, Moto3 should be more open than the Moto2. Read the full article »

2011 Rieju RS3 50 and 125 revealed

Rieju has unveiled the 2011 version of its learner-legal 50 and 125cc sportsbike, the RS3. The new RS3 features a more advanced bodywork and an agressive styling. Power is supplied by a well-proven 50cc liquid-cooled Yamaha 2-stroke-motor or a 125cc 4-stroke engine which delivers about 15hp. Both engines are mated with a 6-speed gearbox. Precise handling is provided by Showa inverted 35mm front fork plus the use of lightweight 17” alloy rims to reduce unspring weight. Read the full article »

Nolan introduced its 2011 lineup

The Italian company launched its 2011 helmet lineup at the EICMA show last week. The new, enhanced lineup includes three new products: the N71, the N63 and the N33. The first one, the N71 is a „crossover” full-face helmet but has a removable chin guard. In the full-face configuration, the N71 offers maximum protection, and features internal sunscreen (VPS – Vision Protection System). The second helmet, the N63 is a new full-face road helmet designed for city use. The third helmet, the N33 is a demi-jet helmet suitable for city riding, but is also suitable for touring. Read the full article »

Ducati updated the Monster EVO for 2011

The Italian manufacturer presented the 2011 Monster 1100 EVO at EICMA show in Milan. The updated bike is lighter and more powerful, and now features standard ABS and Ducati Traction ontrol (DTC). The 2011 Monster weighs just 373lbs, 4lbs less than the 2010 version. The updated engine delivers five extra horsepower, which means the 2011 Monster is the first two-valve Ducati that reaches 100hp. New 10-spoke wheels replace the five-spoke units on the 2010 models, with Pirelli Diablo Rosso remaining the OE tire. Brembo binders now come with ABS as standard, available as an option on previous models. Read the full article »

2011 Honda SW-T600: the successor of the Silver Wing has arrived

Honda uveiled its new superscooter, the SW-T600 which will compete the Suzuki Burgman and Yamaha T-Max. The new SW-T600 wants to be simply the best available for a maxi scooter, offers the same performance characteristics and comfort of the Silver Wing 600 in a building more compact and dynamic. L ‘SW-T600 boasts an extremely comfortable driving position with seat double-decker only 755 mm from the ground and great wind protection. The load capacity is significant: the tail section allows you to stow well two full-face helmets and there are two rooms in the counter shield, one of well-locked 2.2-liter capacity. Read the full article »

KTM 450 Rally: new Dakar race bike introduced

KTM finally decided not to pull out of Dakar after the announcement of the new 450cc capacity limit from 2011. The manufacturer introduced today the 450 Rally which is KTM’s response to the new rule. The race bike features a massive trellis frame, a high-performance engine with larger bore and smaller stroke. The engineers coupled the single-cylinder 4-stroke engine with a 5-speed gearbox. Other interesting facts about the bike: the 450 Rally has a dry weight of 150kg (330lbs) and features a 35-liter (9.2 gallons) fuel tank that saddles the frame. The 450 Rally carries a price tag of €29,300 ($41,200). A spare engine costs €5,000 extra. Read the full article »

Vespa introduced its 2011 lineup, including the refreshed PX 125, PX 150 and the GTV scooters. Its no surprise that Vespa maintains all of the classic strong points which determined the PX’s success for more than three decades: unmistakable style, functionality, sturdiness of a steel bodyshell, reliability.
