2011 Yamaha FZ16: sporty commuter bike from Yamaha India

The new Yamaha FZ16 is a mid segment street bike that gives its riders the feel of riding a high end, muscular sports bike. The FZ16 features an agressive, robust styling, huge tank, beefy forks and wide tyres. It is powered by a 153cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine which delivers 14hp and 10ft-lb. It is a bike designed for the urban rider and its design as well as technological features makes it give a feather smooth ride in city traffic. The FZ16 has a price tag of 65,000 Rupees in India (appr. $1,453). However, there are no current plans to sell the FZ16 in the US. Read the full article »

Video: Yamaha EC-03 electric scooter – Change is good

Yamaha introduced its EC-03 electric scooter concept in 2009 at the EICMA show, and the bike is heading into serial production next spring. Here’s a promo video of the e-moped which features a 1.6 kW brushless DC motor, lithium-ion battery, drum brakes and a planetary gear transmission housed inside the rear wheel hub. The range is expected to be around 25 km (15 miles)on a single charge. Price will be around €2,400 ($3,300). Read the full article »

Video: Yamaha XTZ 250 Ténéré breaks cover for Brazilian market

These are the first picture of the XTZ 250 Ténéré, a miniaturized copy of the big European adventurer, the XT1200Z Super Ténéré. The mini-adventure bike takes its styling from her sister, but its 250cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine produces a modest 23hp at 8,000rpm. The bike features a tubular steel chassis, cheap suspension and low-spec twin piston brakes. The 16-liter tank allows long rides without worrying about the refuel. The little Ténéré will carry a price tag of €5,400 in Brazil. Read the full article »

Yamaha FZ and Fazer Midnight Special Series – Black is the hip

Yamaha Motor India has now announced the launch of the FZ and Fazer Midnight Special Edition. The 150cc FZ and Fazer Series was introduced in 2008 in India, and the models gained immense popularity amongst youngsters. The manufacturer decided now to come up with a limited edition series, the Midnight Special. As the tag suggests, the bikes will be available in all black color concept with golden alloy wheel highlighting the exclusive looks of the FZ range. Read the full article »

Air Asia heading to MotoGP?

Air Asia, the first low cost airline of Asia, will probably be the main sponsor of the Yamaha MotoGP team. The team is currently owned by Fiat, but the Italian manufacturer has yet to announce if they will continue sponsoring the team next year. The first gossip was, that Spanish telecommmunications company Telefonica wants to sponsor the team. This second rumour seems more serious, because Air Asia negotiated with Honda HRC team earlier but they quit when they found out that Casey Stoner’s future RCV wasn’t involved. Read the full article »

Hermes Yamaha VMAX Concept Bike

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer has teamed up with French fashion house Hermes on the new VMAX concept bike. The unique machine features rich leather detailing added to thre seat, headlight cover, exhaust silencers, grips and mirrors. Everything non-mechanical on the bike is covered in a skipper Buffalo leather. The 180-year old French brand is not new to the world of motor powered vehicles, as they have already worked on cars and helicopters. Read the full article »
