Motorcycles have no doubt been around for a long time. Available in many designs and brands, motorcycles are now very common around the world where they are used in different ways. Depending on functionality, you are bound to come across motorcycles designed for different purposes including long distance travel, cruising, sports (racing and off-road racing) and commuting.
Motorcycle designers and manufacturers no doubt make great effort in availing new motorcycles every year, different motorcycle models with different specifications that enhance their functionality. The year 2014 has not been exceptional. The year has seen a good number of new motorcycle models worth writing or talking about and below are no doubt the top five motorcycles that have stood out in 2014.
Indian Chief Classic

The bike no doubt borrows its design from Indian bikes of yesteryears. It is a cruiser bike that features a leather seat with saddlebags to boot. It is available in red, blue and black colours. Although its style remains vintage, its features are no doubt modern. It comes with a powerful 111 cubic inch Thunder Stroke locomotive-like engine with six-speed gearbox. The bike weighs 835 pounds and has a load capacity of 425 pounds.
BMW R 1200 RT

This is a superb sport/touring bike whose features are similar to that of BMW 1600. However, the features are enhanced for optimum performance. The bike provides for soothing riding experience on open roads with low-frequency engine thrum, which is a characteristic of almost all BMW bikes.
Ducati 1199 Superleggera

This is no doubt an enhanced version of Ducati 1199 Paniagle R. Although Superleggera weighs less than Panigale, it no doubt has improved power output. This is a racing bike that features Liquid-cooled 4 lithium valves per cylinder with a displacement of 1198cc and six-speed gearbox.
KTM 1190 Adventure R

This is an adventure bike designed for off-road traveling and in particular on some of the worst rods available including traveling across gravel, desert and dunes. It is designed with Bosch’s MSC Motorcycle Stability Control and is powered by a 2-cylinder, 4-stroke, spark-ignition engine that is liquid-cooled.
Honda Grom

Although that tiny, Honda Grom has already made a name for itself as the best beachside rider available. It is indeed not surprising that it is named as Grom, a young surfer. Honda Grom is not only suitable along the beach; it is a very good alternative to a scooter because it easily accommodates a six-footer. It is a very compact bike.
These bikes will no doubt continue to be tested and appreciated by millions across the world. They will certainly continue to hold their ground in terms of popularity come 2015.
