Video: BMW S1000 RR vs. Ariel Atom V8

Famous UK TV show Top Gear tested the Ariel Atom V8, which is powered by two inline-four motorcycle engines. The supercharged 3,0-liter V8 delivers 500hp while weighing only 1200 pounds. The means the Atom has 900 horsepower per tonne, a ratio that shames everything from the Lotus to the Lexus LF-A. The BMW S1000 RR features a 999cc inline-four that produces 193 hp, 83 lb-ft or torque and can rev up to 14,200. The bike has a power-to-weight ratio of 1,055 horsepower per tonne. Read the full article »

2011 World Superbike and Supersport entry lists

In 2011, WSBK will probably see 20 riders on the grid. Five Kawasaki Ninjas, four BMW S1000RR’s, four Ducati 1098R’s, three Aprilia RSV4 Factory’s, three Honda CBR1000RR’s and one Suzuki GSX-R1000’s. After the Ducati factory team pullout, BMW Italia team joined the party with James Toseland and Ayrton Baldovini. Interestingly, the 2010 World Champion, Max Biaggi decided to keep his #3 plate. 2011 Harley-Davidson FXS Blackline revealed

Harley took the wraps off a new bike in New York last weekend, the FXS Blackline. The bike is a softail-based cruiser that features simple stling, compact headlight, and dark look. The Blackline uses the Twin Cam 96B engine which is rigid-mounted within the frame. The 1584cc motor delivers 121 Nm at 3250rpm. Aboard the Blackline, the rider hugs the frame on the lowest two-up seat ever offered by Harley-Davidson, and reaches high for new Split DragŞ handlebars that bolt right to the top triple-clamp. Read the full article »

Official 2011 MotoGP, Moto2 and 125cc entry lists

The FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) and the official website of MotoGP have released the official entry lists for all three classes. The 125cc and the Moto2 entry lists are official, but MotoGP.com says the list of MotoGP class is still provisional. In this class, 2010 World Champion Jorge Lorenzo will be taking the #1 plate. It seems, two of the teams, Yamaha and Ducati have lost their sponsor: Fiat and Marlboro is out. Besides, Moto2 lost two teams, Jack & Jones by Antonio Banderas and Holiday Gym Racing. 2011 KTM Dakar victory in numbers

The Dakar 2011, which finished last weekend in Buenos Aires, will be remembered at KTM as one of the company’s greatest triumphs in rally sport. Not only the tenth concecutive win for the Austrian manufacturer but also a sensational ride by the company’s two leading factory riders who finished 1-2 in a two-way battle. 2011 Victory High-Ball introduced

Victory has added a new model to its lineup, the High-Ball. The manufacturer unveiled the low-slung bike in New York prior to the opening of the NYC stop of the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows. The bike features high-rise, adjustable handlebars, spoked 16-inch wheels and classic styling elements. The engine is a massive 106 cubic inch V-twin that delivers 97hp and 113 ft./lbs. of torque. The Dunlop tyres are 1300mm in front and 150mm in the back. Many of the Victory Vegas accessories will bolt on to the High-Ball. Read the full article »

Ducati recalls Multistrada 1200

Ducati has issued a second recall notice for the Multistrada 1200. This recall is necessary because of the engine stalling whilst the bike is stationary and the engine idling. To fix the ECU problem, affected owners must take their Multistrada to a Ducati dealership, where the ECU will be re-flashed with a new firmware package. The recall affects 1196 units. This is the second time the new Multistrada 1200 has been recalled by Ducati, the first time being for faulty screws, centerstand, and improper cable routing. Read the full article »

2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 750: three new colors

Aprilia has released new colors for its Dorsoduro 750 supermoto. The bike will be available in green, white and black for 2011. It’s not clear whether the new colors will be available to the US. There are no technical changes to the 2011 Dorsoduro 750 so the bike’s V-twin produces still 92hp. The engine features liquid cooling, tri-map engine management, ride-by-wire throttle control, four valves per cylinder, double overhead cam valve timing, hydraulically operated wet clutch and electronic fuel injection. Read the full article »

KTM 1200 Adventure and new Super Duke to debut in 2012?

According to Nieuwsmotor, KTM will introduce the new Super Duke and Adventure lineup in late 2012 and 2013. The Dutch magazine visited the Austrian’s factory in Mattighofen, where they were able to speak to Robert Prielinger, Head of Development of Street Bikes. Prielinger shared some interesting details about KTM’s new model lineup. Nieuwsmotor says the new Super Duke will feature a higher-state of tune, 700cc single-cylinder engine and less agressive design than previous model. Read the full article »

Last chance to get a Moto Morini

As you probably know, Nuova Garelli has walked away from talks over the future of Moto Morini last summer, which ment the manufacturer closed its doors in December. The Italian Court with Piero Aicardi has informed the media that the factory will be opening up to assemble 45 motorcycles in order to use the proceeds to pay a part of the Casalecchio di Reno company debts. According to the report, 16 Scramblers and 29 Granpassos will be sold without warranties. Read the full article »
