America’s best 15 motorcycling roads

Members of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) voted on their favorite roads in America, and the top 15 selections represent scenic highways and byways throughout the country. "When it comes to the best places in the country to ride motorcycles, no group of riders is more knowledgeable than AMA members," said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. Official: TTXGP and FIM e-Power share events in 2011

The organizers of the TTXGP and the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) realized that partnership is a good idea. They announced yesterday a collaboration which means they will hold joint rounds. This means we can see better racing, more complete events and with the support of MotoGP-organizer Dorna, more media coverage. Moto Guzzi celebrates 90th anniversary with a new blog

To celebrate its 90th anniversary this year, Moto Guzzi created a new website. The company was founded March 15, 1921 on the shores of Lake Como in the village of Mandello del Lario, Italy, where modern Moto Guzzi motorcycles are still manufactured today. This site was created to honor Moto Guzzi’s heritage. Moto Guzzi is the world’s second oldest continuously operating motorcycle manufacturer. Read the full article »

MotoGP, other pro sports postponed in Japan after tsunami

Japanese sports industry is now facing hard times after last Friday’s earthquake and tsunami. Reports said that the 9.0-magnitude earthquake caused cracks on the track and also damaged spectator seats at the Motegi circuit (90 miles north of Tokyo), which has led to MotoGP World Championship being rearranged for October. The race was originally scheduled for April 24. The MotoGP season is due to get under way at Losail in Qatar. A domestic road race there next Sunday was also knocked off the circuit's calendar. Read the full article »

Horex VR6 caught testing

Newly reborn German manufacturer Horex is currently testing its new VR6 model. "In this phase of the test series we mainly wanted to determine whether the current suspension configuration, basic geometry and engine tuning are correctly matched," – says the company. The 1218cc engine is a mixture of a straight and a V-twin engine and delivers around 180-200hp.The serial production of the VR6 begins at the end of 2011 in Augsburg, Germany. Read the full article »

Wunderlich presented its frequently updated 2011 catalog which contains the new Vario ERGO+ spoiler. This is a simple spoiler attachment on the top of the screen that eliminates air turbulence and transport wind energy over the head of the rider. This unique attachment is available for EUR 79.90 (approximately $110). 2011 Rizla Suzuki GSV-R revealed

Rizla Suzuki has officially unveiled its updated 2011 GSV-R racing bike. The machine which Álvaro Bautista will be riding in this season’s MotoGP World Championship is the final generation of the 800cc GSV-R four-stroke prototype Grand Prix bike, due to the change in capacity limit to 1000cc next season. The latest version of Suzuki’s MotoGP challenger features an engine that has improved on its horsepower, driveability and durability through many detailed development changes throughout winter and pre-season testing. Read the full article »

The motorcycle builder who will never run out of time – wristwatch motorcycles

Brazilian artist Jose Geraldo Reis Pfau creates gorgeous motorcycle miniatures using only parts from old wristwatches. The inspiration for the sculptures came from other similar pieces of art. He started this project using regular keys, developing motorcycle images. Through research in publications and web sites he got to know of other artists who have been working on a similar project. There are wonderful pieces of work made of wood, potery, screws, wires, but the ones identified exclusively with pieces of watches and glasses seem to be something new. Read the full article »

Suzuki Burgman fuel cell scooter earns EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval

Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced that the Burgman Fuel-Cell Scooter has become the world’s first fuel-cell vehicle to earn Whole Vehicle Type Approval in the European Union. Since February 2010, Suzuki and British company Intelligent Energy, which developed the Burgman Fuel-Cell Scooter’s fuel-cell system, have been jointly participating in trials of the scooter on public roads under the aegis of the British government’s Technology Strategy Board. Read the full article »

Motus MST sports tourer finally introduced

After much waiting, the Motus MST has finally arrived. The touring machine is powered by the KMV4 "baby block" engine, a gasoline direct injected, 90 degree V4. The OHV engine delivers 161 hp at 7,800 rpm and 122 lb.-ft. at 4,500 rpm, while the redline is at 8,000 rpm. The bike tips the scales around 500 lbs dry. There will be a more upmarket version called the MST-R which will feature Brembo brakes, Öhlins suspension parts and Marchesini wheels. Read the full article »
