The BMW Motorrad Italia Team, which will take part in two championships in 2011 with four riders, has been presented at the Autodromo di Monza. Britain’s James Toseland (two-times WSBK champion) and last year’s Superstock 1000 FIM Cup winner Italy’s Ayrton Badovini will be taking part in the FIM Superbike World Championship, while the team run by Serafino Foti will also continue in Superstock 1000 with Italian Lorenzo Zanetti and last-minute addition, Frenchman Sylvain Barrier.

The project, which has seen the light thanks also to the support of Feel Racing, and its twenty years experience, mainly with Ducati, in the world of bike racing, has considerable potential. The presence for the occasion of the new director of BMW Motorrad Motorsport Bernhard Gobmeier, was also important. Gobmaier underlined the support that the German manufacturer will give to the Italian team, which will have an equivalent spec machine to the internal team, the only difference being the engine, which will be one step lower than the one developed by the factory riders Leon Haslam and Troy Corser.
