Aprilia Tuareg 4.5 – the bike that won stage 7 of 2011 Dakar

The Italian manufacturer introduced the RXV 4.5 rally bike last year, and the twin-cylinder adventure bike is a real threat to the KTM 450 Rally on the 2011 Dakar. Francisco „Chaleco” Lopez has obtained the third place overall, with three stage victories. His 450cc Aprilia is very reliable, both in terms of performance and sturdiness. The bike features a V-twin with single overheadcamshaft, titanium valves and dry sump lubrication. The RXV 4.5 Rally Replica has a price tag of €37,000. Read the full article »

Dakar – stage 7 video summary

In a shortened 273 km special stage, Chilean rider Francisco Lopez (Aprilia) managed to achieve best time for the first time this year, which brings him slightly closer to Coma and Despres. His Italian 450cc having now demonstrated its reliability, both in terms of performance and sturdiness, all the conditions were there to see Lopez roar out of the box. In order to make sure he would win this one, the Chilean rider was very tidy; he cleared km 176 with more than 4' lead over Coma. Read the full article »

Aprilia won’t compete in MotoGP

The International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) announced new regulations for the 2012 MotoGP earlier this year, and it seems Aprilia doesn’t like these new engine rules. In 2012, the bikes will be powered by 1000cc engines, and it was believed manufacturers that compete in the WSBK would shift to MotoGP. But appearently, Aprilia won’t do that. The technical director of the company, Luigi dall’Igna said in a recent interview with Italian magazine Autosprint: “You need to consider that Aprilia is a manufacturer that has reaped a lot of success in the series it has participated in," Read the full article »

Aprilia introduced a carbon kit for the RSV4

The RSV4 is one of the most faszinating sportbikes on the market, but the Italians decided to make an even more agressive version. Aprilia developed a new carbon body kit for the RSV4 range. Each part is made from three layers (carbon/kevlar/carbon) for strength and finished by hand. The kit includes carbon belly pan, carbon front fairing, carbon tank cover, carbon air vents, right carbon side panel, left carbon side panel, right carbon tail and left carbon tail. Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 Factory updated for 2011

The Aprilia maxi supermoto adds further technical elements to meet the needs of more experienced riders. The bike got even lighter and better equipped, and the Factory is now available as a new version with ABS. Video: 2011 Aprilia Tuono V4R

The Italian company revealed the new Tuono V4R at the EICMA show in Milan earlier, and now we can see the bike on the official video. Power comes from a 1000cc V4 engine which is mated with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike features Brembo brakes, titanium forks, fully adjustable rear shock, and a bunch of modern electronics including ABS, wheelie control, quick shifter. All in all, the Tuono V4R is a great machine but the manufacturer definitely needs a better marketing company. Read the full article »

2011 Aprilia RS4 125: small sportsbike coming to America

Aprilia will import a new small displacement sportsbike to the U.S. The machine, called the RS4 125 replaces the 125 and features a 125cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder engine. The engine is fuel-injected and has 4 valves and double overhead camshaft valve actuation system. The Italian engineers coupled the engine with a six-speed gearbox. The RS4 has a twin-spar aluminium frame with a 41mm inverted front fork and a shock absorber out back. Weight is 264 lbs with a full 3.8 gallon tank of gas. 2011 Aprilia Tuono V4 R APRC: a real musclebike

Aprilia revealed the new Tuono V4 R APRC – a semi-naked musclebike based around the RSV4 superbike. The bike comes with the Aprilia Performance Rider Control package, which includes traction control, anti-lock brakes, wheelie control, launch control, quick-shifter, and rider-selectable driving modes to the naked V4. The bike features a 1000cc 65-degree V4 engine which delivers 162hp at 11,000rpm and 79.4lbs.-ft. at 9,000rpm, this is 7hp more than the rival Ducati Streetfighter has. Read the full article »

2011 Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC Special Edition: WSBK-technology on the street

APRC, short for: Aprilia Performance Ride Control. The APRC was developed using data from this year’s Superbike Championship. While it’s the BMW S1000RR that came out on top in most litre-class superbike shootouts conducted by dozens of magazines and websites worldwide, on the racetrack, it’s the Aprilia RSV4 that has won the battle. Aprilia announced the 2011 Shiver 750

Aprilia North America introduced the2011 Shiver 750. For 2011, the bikes engine and chassis will remain the same, but the agressively styled model gets a bikini fairing with flyscreen, sportier riding position, wave brake rotors and narrower rear wheel. Footrests slightly backwards and handlebars are curved to follow rider’s body, thus giving a comfortable position. Shiver V-90 engine equipped with twin-cylinder that powered 95hp at 9000rpm with maximum torque of 81Nm at 7000rpm. “By being at the top in its class, Shivers gave a very good rotation on torque.
