After many years of stability, 2015 was an important year for Vespa. They launched the brand new 946 and Primavera scooters and updated many older models. The GTV 300 is one of these older scooters on the line-up, a bike that offers plenty of history and retrospective design. For the new model year, the GTV got over 50 specific design and performance upgrades, including ABS and traction control. Click through for the details.

2016 Vespa GTV comes with important upgrades

The Vespa GTV is one of those scooters you don’t see on the road too often, but with its retro design, it’s an important piece on Vespa’s line-up. For the new model year, Vespa decided to launch an upgrade on all flagship models. Many of the new features of the GTV are similar to the ones found on the GTS 300 and GTS 300 Sport models.

The new GTV has a larger under seat storage, new horn, redesigned seat, taillight and chrome trim but more importantly, Piaggio also upgraded the engine and the electronics. The most exciting addition for the new model year is the ABS and the ASR traction control system.

At the heart of the GTV is a 4-stroke 278cc single with four valves and electronic injection. The engine has a maximum output of 21,1 hp at 7,500 rpm and 16.4 ft. lbs. (22,3 Nm) at 5,250 rpm. The fuel tank has a capacity of 2.5 gallons (9,5 l) while Vespa claims the bikeis capable of doing 60-70 miles to the gallon. The single-cylinder engine is mated to a CVT transmission, and top speed is 80 mph (129 km/h).

  • Larger under seat storage to fit bigger helmets and more cargo.
  • Restyled RED seat, more comfortable and stylish.
